Fall weather is perfect for our weekly DSC Bike Rides!

Join us for a 10-mile ride at your own pace: walk, jog, or rollerblade. We usually meet at Countryside Park North, just north of Route 6 in Portage and bike the Prairie Duneland Trail. See the Calendar for more details and a map.

We follow the good exercise with a casual dinner or drink at various local restaurants.

Bike, Hike, or Blade! Starting time is 5:00 PM. Call Charlie Cleek at 219-395-6666 for information or RSVP.

NWI Pops 2026

Join us for the Annual Holiday Pops Concert!

Yes, it's time to think about getting into the holiday spirit! Join your friends and family for the Northwest Indiana Symphony Holiday Pops Concert at 7:30 PM on Thursday, December 3. You only can you enjoy a mixture of classic and contemporary holiday music and the chorus-led carol sing-along, you can also try your luck at the games - because the concert is at the Hard Rock Casino, 5400 West 29th Avenue in Gary.

We will meet at Aurelio's Pizza, 112 E. Ridge Road in Griffith (just east of Cline Avenue) at 5:30 PM before going to the Symphony. (Dinner and drinks are not included in the ticket price.) They have a wonderful menu, including a pizza buffet with "dessert pizzas".

To tag along with Cindy Kwallek and your Duneland friends, call Cindy at 219-616-1852.

Feeling lucky? For every 20 tickets sold, DSC will receive 1 free ticket! We will have a drawing at Aurelio's, and the winner will have their ticket refunded as a $35 credit toward a future Duneland event!

RSVP to Cindy Kwallek at 219-616-1852

Concert tickets are $35 per person, checks payable to Duneland Ski Club. The cut-off date to purchase tickets is November 20.

Payments can be made by check at any DSC meeting or mailed to:

Duneland Ski Club and the Indiana Ski Council

Duneland Ski Club has a rich history, founded in 1949 as the Gary Ski Club. Some of the members - particularly Bob Burns - were instrumental in forming the Indiana Ski Council, which ran trips and annual races from the 70's and as late as 2020.

The Fort Wayne Ski Club recently returned the plaque that served as the traveling trophy for these latter races to the Duneland Ski Club. This prompted long-time member and Past President Bill Leavitt to write up a history of the ISC and memories of Bob Burns. Click on the link below - it's worth your time! You can see a photo of this plaque and find some of our current members on the list of race winners from 2013 and 2016.

Bob Burns and the ISC Annual Races

Duneland Ski Club is active all year round!
See what's coming next in our monthly newsletter or the menus above!

Duneland Ski Club and the Chicago Nomads enjoyed a great joint trip to Taos, New Mexico, in February 2025. Check out other great trip memories in the "Trips & Events" tab in the Main Menu at the top of this Home Page!

Our membership in the Chicago Metropolitan Ski Council facilitates sharing activities with other clubs throughout the Midwest. Check out the CMSC website at www.skicmsc.com for more information.

The 2026 Western Trip took Duneland to Schweitzer Mountain in northern Idaho. Spring skiing conditions did not slow down the fun!

Registration is now open for the 2027 DSC Western Trip to Sun Valley, Idaho!

Living in the Indiana Dunes provides DSC opportunities for unique hiking experiences. NPS Ranger Bill provided fascinating insights about ecosystem and history of the Pinhook Bog.
